I introduce myself as one of the youth of India who is proud to say that
- I am one among the many who earn a fat salary today in the industry today.
- I am one among this youth who is transforming the country beyond imagination.
- I am one among the youth who hail from a country which has a glorious heritage of thousands of years.
- I am one among the youth who is proud of people like JRD Tata, Narayan Murthy, Ambani etc who have crossed the oceans and opened their business in the distant lands to mark their presence.
- I am one among the youth who is proud of India's role globally today.
- I am one among the youth who love to play cricket.
At the same time
- I am one among the youth who knows that 41% of people of India live in poverty.
- I am one among the youth who send my children to a private school while the government schools are rotting , pay a earning of a life time to get a quality health care while public health care is rotting day after day.
- I am one among the youth who can afford a Ford icon today but have to wait for hours in traffic in order to reach my office.I also fail to realize that 60-70 thousand youth like me come to cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore(
Hyderabad was designed initially for a population of 5 lakh people ) for the the sake obtaining a lively hood.
- I am one among the youth who has to keep my head down in front of a foreigner when speaking about the way Common Wealth Games was organised in India.
- I am one among the youth who fail to realize that 4000 farmers committed suicide in the state of Maharashtra in the year 2005 alone.
- I am also one among the youth who should be scared of the gunda politician who may come one day and occupy my land illegally.
But me along with many youth of this country should realize that:
- There is a corrupt IAS officer and politician behind every person living in poverty in this land.
- There is a corrupt District Educational Officer(DEO) and a politician behind the embarrassing quality of public education in this country.
- There a corrupt City Planning officer and a politician behind the traffic jams in Hyderabad or any other city.
- There is a corrupt Kalmadi behind every CWG.
- It is a corrupt system which is producing a corrupt politician or a corrupt public servant who are rotting our life in the country.
German pastor and theologian during the world war 2 Martin Niemoller He is famous for the poem "First they came" in which he repented for his silence when his voice mattered.
They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
So youth of India should remember that every farmer who couldn't afford a bred or every Indian living in poverty or every youth in a city like hyderabad who doesn't find a livelihood would be a potential recruit for a nexalite or a terrorist who threaten the integrity of the country . Every penny corrupted by a public servant of this country would discourage many pennies coming to the country as an FDI to create jobs for our starving youth.
So every penny corrupted would make the life more miserable in this country.
Let us wake up ,though corruption is a big problem we have solutions to drive it away.Today we have the 2g scam,Adarsh housing scam,CWG scam...etc surfacing in the discussions of the parliament and there is a lot of anguish in the minds of the people of this country which should be utilized . Thanks to democracy if the people of this county think change can happen in an eye flip.
Lets look at the Indian history for some answers.Salt sathyagraha was an important step which led to Indian Independence. Some crores of Indians were ruled by just a hand full of Britishers .Many Indians used to pay huge taxes to Britisher for Salt and many other goods So one man by name Gandhi displayed that Salt can be produced at very low price and there is no need to pay huge taxes for it to a Britisher . This simple idea spread to nook and corner of the country carrying a massage that if Indians think they can throw the Britishers out of the country and rest is a history in itself.
Today we have an opportunity to do something on corruption so simple like salt Sathyagraha .The concept is simple
1)Sign a petition online asking for the following things to be done immediately by D.Manmohan Singh's government.
- Today the discussion in parliament is just a blame game between congress,BJP and other parties regarding the different scams which have been surfaced in the past so lets ask them to "Cancel the 2G spectrum allocation"
- The government lost 1.5lakh crores of public money by wrong licences so lets ask to "Cancel the 2g licences and Get our money back"
- This scams shouldn't repeat n future so lets ask them to " enact false claims act, wind fall tax, Independent Anti Corruption Commission [IACC] in the lines of Hong Kong Commission model"
2)Two rupee Money Order Campaign:
- A money order with an acknowledgement would cost Rs2.5. Every money order with acknowledgement should be signed by the receiving party in case of an acknowledgement money order .In case the money order is not signed the money order to should travel the same distance back to sender which would cost the government 3 more rupees.
- Imagine 1 lakh acknowledgement money orders of 2 rupees sent to prime ministers office. Each money order should be signed by the prime ministers office and in case not signed it should trace the same return path and reach the sender.
- When 1 lakh money orders are sent by common people it creates a lot of buzz in the public media, civil society and the government would also be bound to act for the peoples demands.
- So guys lets start sending acknowledgement money orders to prime ministers office Dr. Manmohan Singh, R.No.148 B, South Block, New Delhi 110001.
- You can include the above three messages in the money order also.
3)Now its time to act ,lets start spreading this message and let the anti-corruption day of 2010 December 9th be remembered by future generations of Indians.
Courtesy to Loksatta and Dr.Jayapraksh Narayan for such a great idea.Remember that the real courtesy to anyone is the change in the lives when corruption starts reducing so lets give our part of effort by signing the petition and sending money orders .
Please forward this message to your friends, family members, colleagues.....etc.
Yours
An optimistic youth of India
